What better way to spend a morning than trying out some new items that made my way into the crafting palace. And with the temperatures hovering around a cool 112 degrees here in Las Vegas it is the perfect time to stay inside where it is nice and cool!
I had finally succumbed to the lure of Distress Oxide Inks and bought 6 different colors to try them out.
I watched a ton of how to videos and decided to play with them one day. I focused mostly on making backgrounds.
For these card I blended the ink directly onto the paper and then sprayed/misted it with water. I like the effect you get for sure. My favorite is the more subtle color combinations.
At the end of this post are links to Scrapbook.com and Amazon.com if you would like to purchase any of the items used to make this card. 2 Crafty Little Sisters are affiliates and receive a small commission from any sales….at no additional cost to you. I love the Lawn Fawn Jawsome stamp and die set. The background seemed to fit the water theme very nicely.
For the background I used the following Distress Oxide Ink Pads: Broken China and Cracked Pistachio.
To color in the whales I used Spectrum Noir Markers IG4 and IG8.
For this background I choose some bolder colors to work with. I was pleased with the results.
I should mention I did use watercolor paper. I did try this technique out on regular 110 lb paper and it shredded the paper with all the water i sprayed on it.
